Foreign Ministers of Denmark and Finland meet in Helsinki

The newly-appointed Foreign Minister of Denmark Villy Søvndal will meet Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja on his visit to Finland on 10 November. In the first bilateral meeting between them, the Foreign Ministers will address, for example, issues concerning the forthcoming Danish EU Presidency, the condition of the Arctic areas and the relevant cooperation, and measures for promoting Nordic foreign and security policy cooperation. The Danish delegation will also visit the Finnish Parliament and meet, for example, MP Miapetra Kumpula-Natri, deputy member of the Finnish Delegation to the Nordic Council.

Villy Søvndal is a member of the Danish Government for the first time, but he has been the chairman of the Socialist People’s Party since 2005 and a member of the Danish Parliament since 1994. Before that he acted as teacher in Kolding.
