Government to fly flags for Ukrainian Independence Day on Saturday 24 August
In honour of Ukrainian Independence Day on Saturday 24 August, the Government will fly the Ukrainian flag at Senate Square in front of the Government Palace and at Martti Ahtisaari Square in the courtyard of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs’ main building Merikasarmi, which will also be illuminated in blue and yellow in the evening.
The Finnish flag will be flown from the flagpoles above the Government Palace and Merikasarmi. The Government wants to show its support for and solidarity with Ukraine, which is fighting for its independence and territorial integrity.
Finland is supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s war of aggression in many ways. Finland has provided more than EUR 3 billion in support to Ukraine since February 2022 and will continue its unwavering support for as long as necessary.
