Hannele Valkeeniemi appointed as Press Officer in Tallinn
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has appointed Hannele Valkeeniemi to serve as temporary Press Officer at the Embassy of Tallinn, Estonia. The three-year term will start at the beginning of August.
Valkeeniemi will transfer to Tallinn from the Finnish Broadcasting Company Yle, where she has worked as a reporter and presenter since 1989, most recently as the producer of a programme called 'Silminnäkijä' (eye witness) starting from 2007. During her career, she has, for example, received Bonnier's Best Journalism Act award and accumulated a wide experience of current affairs programmes, international programme projects and Finnish-Estonian cooperation.
Valkeeniemi took her degree in journalism in the University of Tampere.
The Press Officer's duty is to use communications, culture and other means of promotion to advance Finland's objectives and country brand among the key target groups in Estonia. The purpose is the enhance interest in Finland as a partner of cooperation in various fields.
In addition, the Press Officer fosters broad contacts with the Estonian media and international correspondents posted to the country. Cooperation with the Finnish Institute in Estonia is also part of the responsibilities.
