Informal meeting of EU defence ministers in Brussels

The defence ministers of the European Union will convene for an informal meeting in Brussels on 30-31 January 2024.

Permanent Secretary Esa Pulkkinen from the Ministry of Defence will represent Finland on behalf of Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen.

Topics on the agenda for the meeting include the EU's military support to Ukraine and the development of Europe's defence readiness, including the strengthening of the European defence industry.

The meeting will conclude with a working lunch with representatives of NATO and the UN. During their working lunch, the ministers and representatives will discuss, for example, the situation in the Sahel and the Red Sea and military crisis management.
