Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Joakim Strand and Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Taras Kachka had a telephone conversation on Tuesday 19 August.

The discussion focused on Finland's support for Ukraine, bilateral relations, Ukraine's path towards further EU integration and the current international situation.

“Finland and Ukraine are working in close cooperation to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine and to put an end to Russia's unlawful war of aggression. Today, Minister Kachka and I discussed the next steps on Ukraine's path to EU membership. Finland strongly supports Ukraine’s efforts to join the EU. Together with our partners, we will build a safe and prosperous European future,” says Minister Strand.

Minister Strand also congratulated Kachka on his recent appointment as Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.
