Minister Strand and German Minister of State for Europe Lührmann to meet in Helsinki

Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Joakim Strand and German Minister of State for Europe and Climate Anna Lührmann will meet in Helsinki on Friday 4 October.

Their discussions will focus on the priorities of the current EU parliamentary term, which recently got under way. Items on the agenda will include support for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia, measures to boost the EU’s competitiveness and strengthen the rule of law, EU enlargement, and the next financial framework (2028–).

“This term of the European Parliament will be very significant for the future of Europe as a whole. We face historical challenges when it comes to competitiveness and security, but we also have solutions to them. I wish my colleague from our close ally, Germany, a warm welcome to Helsinki, and I look forward to working together for a stronger, more secure and more prosperous Europe,” says Minister Strand.

While in Helsinki, Minister Lührmann will also meet with Members of Parliament, among others.
