Minister Strand and Irish Minister for European Affairs MacNeill to meet in Helsinki
Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Joakim Strand and Irish Minister of State for European Affairs and Defence Jennifer Carroll MacNeill will meet in Helsinki on Wednesday 4 September.
In their meeting, the ministers will discuss a variety of defence and security issues, including the importance of supporting Ukraine for the security of Europe as a whole as Ukraine defends itself against Russia’s illegal war of aggression. The ministers will also discuss the preparation of the EU’s next multiannual financial framework (2028–) and its priorities, as well as issues related to the rule of law.
Finland and Ireland have similar views on many issues. The countries belong to a group of like-minded EU Member States on matters such as the rule of law.
