Minister Stubb makes an export promotion trip to Chelyabinsk and Ufa, Russia

Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade Alexander Stubb and a business delegation chaired by him will visit Chelyabinsk and Ufa, Russia, on 11-14 December. The business delegation chaired by Stubb and assembled by the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce will include representatives from more than 20 Finnish companies and organisations.

The purpose of the visit is to promote the cooperation opportunities of Finnish industry and commerce in the Chelyabinsk Oblast and the Republic of Bashkortostan within the following sectors, among others: energy and energy efficiency, mechanical engineering, logistics, trade, environmental technology, construction, education, research and service business.

During his visit, Minister Stubb will meet, for example, the governor of the Chelyabinsk Oblast and the president of the Republic of Bashkortostan and get acquainted with the industry in these regions, including a power plant owned by Fortum in Chelyabinsk.

Chelyabinsk, located on the eastern side of the Ural Mountains in Western Siberia, has a population of more than a million and is one of the biggest industrial centres of Russia. Ufa, located on the Western side of the Ural Mountains, is the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan with 1.1 million inhabitants. The Republic of Bashkortostan is one of the most economically advanced regions of Russia with extensive natural resources.
