Minister Stubb to attend the Nordic Foreign Ministers

Minister for Foreign Affairs Alexander Stubb will participate in the Nordic Foreign Ministers’ Meeting to be organised on 8-9 June in Reykjavik, Iceland.

The Foreign Ministers’ Meeting will begin with a dinner on Monday, and the actual meeting will be held on Tuesday. In the meeting, the Foreign Ministers will discuss the independent report published in February 2009 by former Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defence of Norway Thorvald Stoltenberg. The report includes 13 recommendations for the development of the Nordic cooperation on foreign and security policy.

Other issues the meeting will address include the forthcoming Swedish EU Presidency, the conference of parties (COP15) in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change to be held in Copenhagen in December, the international economic crisis, and other foreign policy issues of current interest. The meeting will approve a statement on the Nordic cooperation on foreign and security policy.

From Reykjavik, Stubb will travel to Stockholm, Sweden, to start a visit there on Wednesday.
