Minister Stubb to visit the European Parliament in Strasbourg

Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade Alexander Stubb will visit the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France on Tuesday 11 September. The aim of the visit is to meet Members of the European Parliament who have a significant role in EU legislative projects that are of key importance to Finland. Stubb will also meet Finnish MEPs and other key Members of the European Parliament.

During his visit, Minister Stubb will have discussions on the EU's multi-annual financial framework (MFF, the Union's budget 2012–2020) and the annual budget with Alain Lamassoure (France), Chair of the parliamentary Committee on Budgets and MFF rapporteurs Reimer Böge (Germany) and Ivailo Kalfin (Bulgaria). Minister Stubb will discuss the common agricultural policy reform with rapporteur Luis Manuel Capoulas Santos (Portugal). Institutional issues and the initiative on the European Institute of Peace will be on the agenda in discussions between Minister Stubb and Elmar Brok (Germany), Chair of the parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Minister Stubb will discuss the development of border management with Carlos Coelho (Portugal); the public procurement instrument with Christofer Fjellner (Sweden) and Daniel Caspary (Germany); and internal market issues with Andreas Schwab (Germany). With Sylvie Goulard (France), discussions will focus on the present state of the euro area and the EU. During his visit, Minister Stubb will also have a meeting with Klaus Welle, Secretary General of the European Parliament.
