Minister Tavio to visit Vietnam and the Philippines to promote exports
Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will make an export promotion visit to Vietnam and the Philippines on 21–25 October, accompanied by a business delegation.
The visit to Vietnam will focus on Ho Chi Minh City, the country’s commercial hub. Minister Tavio will attend the Green Economy Forum & Exhibition (GEFE), where Finnish businesses will be hosting a pavilion. GEFE offers an excellent opportunity for Finland to showcase its expertise in several key economic sectors, including in sustainable construction industry, renewable energy, circular economy and digitalisation. Minister Tavio and the business delegation will also meet Vietnamese state leadership, leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and business representatives.
“The excellent and long-term relationship between Finland and Vietnam provides a strong basis for deepening cooperation between our countries. Finnish businesses have a great deal to contribute to Vietnam’s efforts towards sustainable economic development,” says Minister Tavio.
In the Philippines, Minister Tavio will meet Secretary of Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo, Secretary of Trade and Industry Cristina A. Roque, Secretary of Transportation Jaime J. Bautista and other representatives of the government and business life. The programme will also include a meeting with Fatima Yasmin, the Vice-President of the Asian Development Bank headquartered in Manila.
“The Philippines are among the fastest growing economies in Southeast Asia, and the country has made its business environment more attractive to foreign operators. The country’s administration has made investments in the clean transition, infrastructure development and digitalisation, which open up attractive opportunities for Finnish businesses,” says Minister Tavio.
