Ministers Soini, Toivakka and Berner to Nordic ministerial meetings in Reykjavik
Minister for Foreign Affairs Timo Soini, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Lenita Toivakka and Minister for Nordic Cooperation Anne Berner will participate in Nordic ministerial meetings in Reykjavik on 27–28 October 2015.
The 67th Session of the Nordic Council will be organised in Reykjavik from 27 to 29 October.
Foreign Minister Timo Soini will take part in the Nordic foreign ministers' meeting. The key themes on the agenda on the ministerial meeting will be Nordic cooperation in foreign and security policy matters, expanded and closer Nordic cooperation and topical international questions, such as the refugee and migration crisis, Russia, and the situation in Syria. Foreign Minister Soini will also have bilateral discussions with Anne Brasseur, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Lenita Toivakka will participate in the meetings of the Nordic ministers for foreign trade and ministers for development. The topics of the meeting of the ministers for foreign trade include, among other things, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations between the European Union and the United States, and the trade relations with China and Russia.
The ministers for development will discuss, among other things, the refugee crisis and development as well as the sustainable development goals and agenda. Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Toivakka will also have bilateral discussions with the Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation Isabella Lövin and the Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs Kristian Jensen. The ministers will discuss topical trade and development policy matters.
Minister for Nordic Cooperation Anne Berner will participate in the meeting of the ministers for Nordic cooperation and present a report on the cooperation between the Nordic countries and the EU to the Nordic Council of Ministers.
