National Action Plan on Youth, Peace and Security to be updated
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs will update the National Action Plan on Youth, Peace and Security in cooperation with the Finnish National Youth Council Allianssi and the Finnish Youth, Peace and Security Network. For this purpose, young people’s views on peace and security will be canvassed using group consultations and a survey questionnaire, which is now open.
Finland’s National Action Plan on Youth, Peace and Security for 2021–2024 was the first of its kind in the world when drawn up in 2021. Through the Action Plan, Finland implements the UN Security Council Resolution on Youth, Peace and Security adopted in 2015. The resolution recognises the positive and active role of young people in preventing and resolving conflicts, in building peace and in averting violent extremism.
The Action Plan was designed and drawn up together with young people, and the work to update the Plan will also take account of young people’s views. It is essential to hear what young people themselves think about peace and security, and the update will draw on their views. Views will be gathered through an online questionnaire created by the Youth Council Allianssi for young people aged 15 to 29. The questionnaire is open between 9 October and 17 November, and it is available here. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs invites all young people to join the work to update the Action Plan.
