In accordance with the Government Programme, the effects of Finland's possible NATO membership will be assessed in connection with the preparation of a Report on Finnish Foreign and Security Policy. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs will lead the preparation of the Report.
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has appointed the following experts to carry out the assessment:
- Mats Bergquist, Ambassador (retired), Sweden
- François Heisbourg, Chairman of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) and of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, France
- René Nyberg, Ambassador (retired), Finland
- Teija Tiilikainen, Director, Finnish Institute of International Affairs, Finland
The assessment is expected to be available in the spring of 2016.
