At the presidential session on 5 July, the President of the Republic appointed a new ambassador.

Embassy of Finland in Manila, Philippines 

The President of the Republic appointed Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Saija Nurminen to serve as Head of Mission at Finland’s Embassy in Manila, starting on 1 September 2024.

Nurminen will move to Manila from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, where she has served as Director of the Personnel Unit at the Administrative Services since 2020. Her career in the Diplomatic Service includes posts in Finland’s embassies in Berlin and Washington, Finland’s Permanent Mission in Geneva and Finland’s Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels.

Nurminen joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 2003. She holds the degree of Master of Laws from the University of Helsinki.
