New Roving Ambassador and side accreditations

At the presidential session on Friday 16 October, the President of the Republic appointed a new Roving Ambassador and decided on authorisations to represent Finland.

The President of the Republic appointed Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Kirsti Narinen to serve as Roving Ambassador for Georgia, starting on 19 October 2020.

Narinen will transfer to the post from the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats, where she worked as Director of International Relations in 2018–2020. In 2014–2018, she served as Head of Mission at Finland’s Embassy in Tallinn. Her experience of work in the Diplomatic Service includes Deputy Head of Mission posts in Tallinn, Ljubljana and St Petersburg.

In the Ministry, Narinen has held several positions, including Team Leader in and Director of the Unit for Occupational Wellbeing in the Administrative Services in 2010-2014. Before that, she dealt with EU coordination matters in the Department for Europe. Narinen joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1984. She holds a Master of Laws degree.

The President of the Republic authorised Head of Finland's Embassy in Athens Jari Gustafsson to represent Finland also on Albania, Head of Finland’s Embassy in Bangkok Jyri Järviaho to represent Finland in Cambodia, and Head of Finland’s Embassy in Seoul Pekka Metso to represent Finland also in the Democratic Republic of Korea.
