Finland is holding the Presidency of the Nordic (N5) cooperation on foreign and security policy in 2025. Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen has invited the Nordic foreign ministers to a meeting on Nordic cooperation on foreign and security policy in Espoo on 18–19 August. Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand has been invited to the meeting.

Items on the agenda for the meeting include topical foreign and security policy issues, such as Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, the Middle East, transatlantic relations and improving security in the northern regions. The Nordic countries and Canada are strong supporters of Ukraine.

“The Nordic countries are our closest partners in foreign and security policy. Together we can both strengthen the security of our region and promote democracy and freedom in the world. I am very pleased to have Canada’s new foreign minister as our guest. The visit will further consolidate Euro-Atlantic cooperation,” Minister Valtonen says.
