OECD Secretary-General to attend a meeting chaired by Prime Minister

On 10 February, Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, will attend a meeting of the Economic Council of Finland chaired by Prime Minister Mari Kiviniemi. The Secretary-General will give a presentation on the global economic outlook. The EU Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs, Olli Rehn, will also hold a presentation with a focus on the European dimension. In addition, Prime Minister Kiviniemi and Secretary-General Gurría will have bilateral discussions touching on the global and national economic situation, future prospects, and challenges posed by the sustainability gap.

The meeting of the Economic Council will be followed by a round table discussion on sustainable growth. The opening words will be delivered by Prime Minister Kiviniemi and Secretary-General Gurría. The round table will also hear specialist presentations on green growth, intergenerational mobility and solidarity, and ways of measuring progress and wellbeing.

The round table discussion will pave way for a seminar on intergenerational justice next week. Prime Minister Kiviniemi has invited representatives, specialists and opinion leaders of different generations for a discussion on issues concerning intergenerational justice. The seminar Finland for all ages will take place at the Old Student House, Helsinki, on 16 February.
