Open house at the Government Palace on Saturday 6 September 2025
The Government Palace will open its doors to the public on Saturday 6 September 2025 at 8.00–17.00. More information about the open house event, along with practical instructions, will be provided in August.
The main building of the Government Palace was taken into use in 1822. Since then, the governing body of Finland has occupied the same premises almost without interruption. The open house tour will lead visitors on a historical journey through the building designed by architect Carl Ludwig Engel. Along the way, guests will pass through the second-floor landing of the main staircase where Eugen Schauman fired the fatal shots at Governor-General Nikolai Bobrikov in 1904. Visitors will also be able to see the Government Session Hall and the Presidential Room.
The open house on 6 September 2025 will offer an opportunity to visit the Government Palace before its upcoming renovation.
The Prime Minister’s Office will provide more detailed information about the event at the end of August. It is not possible to register for the event in advance.
