Prime Minister Orpo to attend AI Action Summit in Paris

Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will attend the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit in Paris on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 February at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. President Macron has also invited EU leaders to a Summit of Heads of State and Government, and leaders from nearly 20 EU Member States are expected to attend alongside Finland.

The AI Action Summit will gather to Paris Heads of State and Government, international organisations, stakeholders, AI experts and dozens of leading AI companies from around the world. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be among the participants.

“Utilising artificial intelligence and promoting innovation are the key to improving the competitiveness of Europe and Finland. AI has great potential both in the private and public sectors, and Finnish expertise in cutting‑edge research and in ecosystem building is highly valuable,” says Prime Minister Orpo.

President Macron will host a working dinner where Prime Minister Orpo will be joined by Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz, President of the Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the heads of state of Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Slovenia and Sweden.

On Monday, Prime Minister Orpo will speak at a panel discussing the public dimension of AI. On Tuesday, he will visit the Embassy of Finland in Paris to open an event showcasing Finnish and French AI experience. The event will be attended by AI companies and experts, among others. Orpo will also give a speech at the Summit plenary on Tuesday on the opportunities of AI in society.
