When a pilot licence or pilotage exemption certificate needs to be renewed, pilots can demonstrate fully their knowledge of the route through training in a ship simulator.
The Government issued a decree on the matter on 4 February 2021. The decree is temporary and valid from 8 February to 30 June 2021.
It may be necessary to carry out training voyages in a ship simulator when ordinary pilotage assignments or training voyages are not possible during the COVID-19 epidemic due to reduced traffic on a route, restrictions aiming to maintain health security or other compelling reasons associated with the epidemic.
