President and Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discuss situation in Ukraine, meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence, Finland’s contribution to SNMG1 and end of Finland’s participation in Operation Prosperity Guardian

In their meeting on Wednesday 12 February, the President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy agreed on Finland’s positions on the Meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence taking place on 13 February. The agenda for the defence ministers’ meeting covers a wide range of issues related to the development of deterrence and defence, defence spending and burden sharing and support for Ukraine. The meeting will also prepare for the NATO Summit next summer.
The President and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy also discussed the current situation in Ukraine, Finland’s contribution to the Standing NATO Maritime Group One (SNMG1) and the end of Finland’s participation in Operation Prosperity Guardian in the Red Sea.
