President and Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discuss support for Ukraine and defence cooperation with United States
In their meeting on Friday 17 May, the President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed the provision of training support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine through the UK-led Operation Interflex. The President and the Ministerial Committee stated that the Defence Forces will continue to provide training support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine with approximately 20 persons.
The President and the Ministerial Committee received a briefing on the deepening of bilateral defence cooperation between Finland and the United States. Topics on the agenda included the accession of the Finnish Defence Forces to the United States National Guard State Partnership Program, defence materiel and technology cooperation, and exercise cooperation.
The President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy also discussed the preparations for the Government Report on Finnish Foreign and Security Policy. In addition, the President and the Ministerial Committee were presented with the Security Committee’s annual report on the security of society.
