Prime Minister Orpo: Finland and Estonia emphasise security and sustainable economy
In a telephone conversation on Tuesday 23 July, Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and Estonia's newly elected Prime Minister Kristen Michal discussed cooperation between their two countries, topical EU issues and the security situation in Europe. The fact that, following his appointment, Prime Minister Michal chose the Prime Minister of Finland as the first head of state to call serves as a good illustration of the close and confidential relationship between Finland and Estonia.
Prime Minister Orpo said that the Finnish and Estonian Governments share many of the same objectives. Both aim to put their country's economy in order and focus on ensuring safety and security.
“The relationship between Finland and Estonia is stronger than ever. We work well together across a whole range of fields and we share many similar interests, such as providing strong support for Ukraine, dealing with border issues, and promoting the competitiveness and security of the whole of Europe,” says Prime Minister Orpo.
Prime Minister Orpo invited Estonia's new Prime Minister to visit Finland. Prime Minister Orpo's first bilateral visit abroad was to Estonia last July.
