Prime Minister Petteri Orpo welcomes Jyrki Katainen’s designation as Special Adviser for EU-Arctic relations. The European Commission appointed Katainen to the position on Monday 13 April.

“Jyrki Katainen’s designation as Special Adviser for EU-Arctic relations is great news. It shows that Finnish expertise is recognised and valued in the EU,” said Prime Minister Petteri Orpo.

“The EU is currently working on a new security strategy and revising its Arctic strategy. I am very pleased that Jyrki Katainen will be providing advice on implementing the EU’s Arctic priorities, including economic security, connectivity, sustainable development, and climate and energy, all of which are extremely important,” Orpo said.
