Prime Minister Orpo speaks with Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Wever

Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Wever spoke briefly on Thursday 11th of December. Among other things, their conversation focused on frozen Russian assets and the plans for a reparations loan that would use the frozen assets to support Ukraine.

Earlier this week, Finland, together with Sweden, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Ireland and Estonia, sent a letter on the subject to President of the European Council António Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

In their letter, the countries urge their fellow EU Member States to reach an agreement on the reparations loan at the European Council summit next week.
