Prime Minister Orpo to cheer on Finnish athletes at Paralympic Games
Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will be in Italy to support Team Finland at the Paralympic Games in Milan-Cortina on 11 and 12 March. According to the Finnish Paralympic Committee, Prime Minister Orpo is the first Finnish prime minister to watch the Paralympic Games in person.
“I think it is important to support Team Finland in the Paralympics, just like in the Olympics. I’m excited to see whether Team Finland achieves its medal goals in these games,” said Prime Minister Orpo.
Prime Minister Orpo will watch cross-country skiing in Val di Fiemme on Wednesday and the giant slalom in Cortina on Thursday.
This year, Team Finland consists of four competitors and a guide skier. Finland is competing in alpine skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing. The Milan-Cortina Winter Paralympics will bring together more than 600 athletes from more than 50 countries.
