Prime Minister Orpo to represent Finland at video meeting, Macron to brief EU leaders on meeting with Trump

On Wednesday 26 February, Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will represent Finland at a video meeting where French President Emmanuel Macron is expected to tell the EU heads of state about his visit to the United States. The meeting was convened by the President of the European Council António Costa.
The meeting, which will be held remotely, comes ahead of the Special European Council to be held in Brussels on 6 March. That meeting will focus on strengthening European defence and on Ukraine.
President Macron met with United States President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C. on Monday. At the same time, the G7 leaders held a meeting. Monday marked exactly three years since Russia launched its war of aggression in Ukraine.
