The Finnish Foreign Service recruits six experts in international business
The Foreign Service announces vacancies for six (6) experts in international business in certain Embassies and Consulates General of Finland for fixed-term employment relationships for a period of three (3) years, as of the beginning of next year. These experts will be posted to Singapore, Tehran, Ottawa, Los Angeles/Palo Alto, New York and at the premises of the Honorary Consulate of Finland in Istanbul, this post being subordinate to the Embassy of Finland in Ankara.
To have the capacity to support the export efforts of Finnish companies in the main developed and developing markets, we need new personnel resources that will focus fully on economic and trade issues.
“The main task of these experts will be to build up Team Finland services in the host countries and back up the export efforts of Finnish companies and assist them in their operations in the target market, working together with the Team Finland network and other local actors. Attracting foreign investment in Finland and innovation cooperation are also part of the job description,” explains Lenita Toivakka, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development of Finland.
Drawing up the job descriptions, the entire recruiting process as well as mentoring will take place in close cooperation with the Ministry of Employment and the Economy and the Finpro and Tekes organisations. “This is an interesting experiment in developing new practices across administrative boundaries to promote Finland’s economic interests,” points out Minister Toivakka.
The current recruitments are part of the Government’s key objective of improving Finland’s competitiveness, and they also pursue the goal of enhancing Team Finland operations. The Team Finland network has the mission to foster the success of Finland and Finnish companies worldwide. It brings together government-funded actors engaged in promoting the internationalisation of companies, foreign investment in Finland and Finland’s country image, pooling the services offered by these actors.
