Timo Lankinen appointed as Permanent State Under-Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office

On Thursday 3 October, the Government appointed Mr Timo Lankinen, Master of Laws, as Permanent State Under-Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office. He will take up the office on 1 January 2012. Mr Lankinen will transfer to the Prime Minister's Office from his position as Director General of the National Board of Education. Before that, he has served as Head of Unit, Senior Adviser and Secretary General at the Ministry of Education.

Under the State Secretary to the Prime Minister, the Permanent State Under-Secretary directs the general administration and functions of the Prime Minister's Office. The Permanent State Under-Secretary is responsible for the smooth running of the ministry and its administration. He also directs and develops operational systems within the Government as a whole.
