Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Mykkänen travels to Washington

Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Kai Mykkänen will participate in the Annual Meeting of the World Bank Group and in the joint Development Committee meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington on 6–8 October. The keynote speakers in the events will be President of the World Bank Jim Yong Kim and Managing Director of the IMF Christine Lagarde.
Together with Minister of Finance Petteri Orpo, Minister Mykkänen will meet World Bank Chief Economist Paul Romer. Their meeting will focus, among other things, on matters relating to the state of the world economy and education. Additionally, Minister Mykkänen will have meetings with other leaders in the World Bank, the International Development Association (IDA) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to discuss, in particular, the World Bank's development agenda and financing instruments.
During his visit to Washington, Mykkänen will also meet US Deputy Secretary of Commerce Bruce H. Andrews and hold discussions with researchers specialising in the upcoming presidential elections.
