Webinars on changes in trade between the EU and the UK
Do you need more information about the new requirements in trade between the EU and the UK?
Many things have changed since 1 January 2021, when the UK exited the EU single market and the Customs Union. The EU–UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA), reached on 24 December 2020, did not replace the single market. Instead, a significant number of new formalities were introduced for the export and import of goods and services and for the entry of business visitors.
A series of webinars on the new trade formalities, organised by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs together with stakeholders in central government and the British Embassy in Finland, will be held in May.
The webinars will provide an overview of the changes and new requirements. They are intended especially for companies that are engaged in or planning to start export from or import to the UK.
The event will be held on every Tuesday in May starting at 9.00 o’clock. Save the date now!
Dates and themes of the webinars:
4 May 2021, Exporting goods from the EU to the UK
The first seminar will focus on the export of goods to the UK. The following matters, for example, will be covered: customs clearances, value-added tax, zero tariffs and zero quotas on trade (rules of origin), and approvals and conformity of products in the UK.
11 May 2021, Importing goods from the UK to the EU
The second seminar will concentrate on industrial and agricultural imports from the UK. The following matters, for example, will be covered: customs procedures, zero tariffs and zero quotas on trade (rules of origin), value-added tax on imports, and conformity assessment procedures in the EU.
18 May 2021, Exporting and importing services, including digital trade
The third seminar will discuss trade in services, including the impacts of the end of free trade in services on export and import. What matters should be noted when exporting or importing digital services, and what VAT rules apply? What are the impacts of Brexit on financial markets?
25 May 2021, Entry of business visitors
The last seminar will focus on entry requirements in connection with business travel in Finland and in the UK. Can an expert travelling on business rely on visa-free travel or do they need a residence permit or a work permit?
We will update the programme of the webinars and the links to each seminar on this website later. The events will be recorded and made available for viewing afterwards.
If you have ideas for themes of discussion in the webinars, please send your suggestions in advance using this form (the form is in finnish).
