Prime Minister to meet for discussions with the public on library tour
In autumn 2025 and in spring 2026, Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will be touring libraries across Finland for a series of discussion events. Discussions at the libraries will focus on education, skills and the importance of literacy, along with broader themes related to Finnish society and its future challenges and success factors.
At each of the Meet the Prime Minister events, the Prime Minister will sit down for an interview and then take questions from the audience. All members of the public are welcome to attend. Seats at the events will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
During autumn 2025, Meet the Prime Minister events were held in Jyväskylä, Pori and Lappeenranta. Prime Minister Orpo also took part in the Big Reading Challenge! event at Helsinki Central Library Oodi on 17 September 2025.
“We simply cannot afford for any young person to leave school without adequate reading skills – neither from a human perspective nor for our society,” Prime Minister Orpo emphasised in his speech at Oodi.
The series of Meet the Prime Minister events will continue in spring 2026.
