Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio is responsible for matters related to development cooperation and trade policy.

Profile

Ville Tavio is a Member of Parliament of Finland and Minister for Foreign Trade and Development. He was born on 25th of June 1984 in Southeast of Finland but has lived most of his youth in Turku region.

Having graduated with a Master of Laws degree from the University of Turku in 2012  Tavio established a law firm specialising in litigation. In this regard, he followed in his family's footsteps, being a third-generation lawyer.

Tavio had his first job at the age of 14 and has a diverse work history including experience as a prison guard, a stevedore, a painter and a café worker.

Tavio has over ten years' experience in municipal politics. Tavio first entered Parliament in 2015 where he has chaired the Finns Party Parliamentary Group and served as a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, the Grand Committee and the Legal Affairs Committee. Tavio was also a member of the Concern Section of the City Board of Turku for a long time.
 
Tavio has also been a member of the supervisory boards of VR Group Ltd (Finnish government-owned railway company) and Veikkaus Ltd. (government-owned betting agency).

Tavio is married and has three children. In his free time, Tavio enjoys sports and walking with the family's dogs.
