Strengthtening the anti-trafficking response

The objective of the project funded by the EU Internal Security Fund (2023-2025) is to prevent and combat human trafficking. The project has published a National Referral Mechanism for Victims of Trafficking (NRM) to improve the identification of victims and ensure access to assistance.

The aim of the project is to prevent and combat human trafficking and to promote the identification and assistance of victims. There are significant shortcomings in the identification of forms of trafficking in human beings and in the provision of assistance to victims. As a result, criminal liability and the rights of victims of human trafficking are not realised. The project will clarify the identification and assistance of victims by producing a practical handbook for professionals encountering potential victims of human trafficking in their work.
The identification of victims of human trafficking and referral to services will be improved, which in turn will also improve the implementation of criminal liability and the smoothness of criminal processes. Professionals encountering potential victims receive information in a clear format. The project will harmonise the work against human trafficking at the national level
The handbook was published on 29.1.2025. In order to implement the handbook, training for professionals began in December 2024 and will continue until the end of April 2025. Online eOppiva training and the Swedish handbook were published in March 2025. The situational report and Communications plan were completed in March 2025. Final reporting on the project was also started in March and will be sent after the end of the project. The project's last steering group meeting will be held in early May 2025.
