Project status

Goals and results

The objective of the project to remove obstacles to digitalisation and to the mobility of information is to increase productivity and the usability of services in the public sector and, with this in mind, to develop their activities by exploiting digitalisation and the mobility of information. In addition the project aims at promoting the flow of information between different information systems in the public administration and to streamline regulation related to digitalisation and the flow of information through targeted measures aimed at removing obstacles to digitalisation.

Starting points

The objective of Prime Minister Orpo's Government Programme is to implement the necessary national legislative amendments that will enable the full utilisation of new technologies and digitalisation in public administration activities. To achieve this objective, the Government Programme States that the Government will launch a comprehensive cross-administrative reform programme of legislation related to the digitalisation of public administration, which will identify and repeal statutes that prevent or hinder digitalisation in a spirit of deregulation.

It is also stated that the Government will promote the flow of information between the different information systems of public administration. At the same time, unnecessary legal obstacles to the use and sharing of public information resources will be identified and dismantled, taking into account the protection of privacy. At the same time, the objective of the digital compass, “interoperable digital public services enable smooth running of services for citizens, businesses and organisations also internationally", will be promoted.
