The Climate Negotiations Group deals with climate negotiation issues that are being prepared by the EU Councils, the Council's Climate Working Group (WPIEI/CC and expert groups under WPIEI/CC. The Group coordinates and prepares Finland's participation in the UN climate negotiations and statutory meetings.

Goals and results

The climate negotiation group coordinates the preparation of Finland's positions and participation in international climate negotiations.

Starting points

On March 10, 2000, the Ministry of the Environment appointed a working group whose task is to coordinate the preparation of Finland's positions and participation in international climate negotiations. Finland acts as part of the European Union in the negotiations.

The working group was appointed for the time being and its composition has been reviewed in 2003, 2007, 2010, 2016 and 2021. In 2009, the name of the group was changed to the climate negotiation group of the Ministry of the Environment.

Developing and statute drafting in the Government

The ministries implement the Government Programme, draft acts and other statutes, and promote reforms through different kinds of projects, working groups and bodies. Information on all this is available on the Government website.
