Marinin hallitusohjelman mukaan osana uutta Ikäohjelmaa toteutetaan erillinen ikääntyneiden asumisen toimenpideohjelma, mikä käynnistyi 3/2020. Ohjelman edistämisen tueksi asetettiin yhteistyöryhmä. Se toimii yhteistyöfoorumina ohjelman toteutuksessa eri hallinnonalojen ja toimijoiden välillä.
