Discretionary government grants for developing civil society organisations’ work to combat racism

In May and June 2025, the Prime Minister’s Office organised a call for applications for discretionary government grants to support civil society organisations in their work to combat racism in 2025 and 2026.

Grants amounting to EUR 240,000 were awarded to ten different projects.

The discretionary government grants aim to support the anti-racism work of civil society organisations representing ethnic minorities. The purpose of the grants is to help organisations strengthen their core activities and develop new ways of working, and they are especially intended for non-governmental organisations whose key objective is to combat racism.

The grants were available to registered associations, registered foundations and other non-profit organisations. Applicants have been informed of the decisions by email.

Priority areas of the call for applications

The priorities set out in the call for applications were the following:

  1. Supporting communities affected by racism
  2. Strengthening advocacy work aiming to combat racism
  3. Developing new operating models for combating racism

The grants may be used immediately and must be used by 31 December 2026. The grants were awarded in full, meaning no self-financing share was required.
