9.1.2025 | Minister of Employment Arto Satonen will travel to Vietnam and the Philippines from 11 to 18 January 2025. The purpose of the visit is to create a cooperation model between Finland and the countries to promote international recruitment.

18.10.2024 | Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will make an export promotion visit to Vietnam and the Philippines on 21–25 October, accompanied by a business delegation.

19.12.2025 | The Finnish Government has made progress on its objective of doubling food exports by 2031. Business Finland’s foreign operations related to export promotion will be integrated into the structures of the Foreign Service, creating new opportunities to boost food exports through enhanced cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

2.7.2025 | About 2,600 wild-berry pickers were granted a seasonal work visa for Finland for summer 2025. About 60 applicants received a negative decision.

20.6.2021 | An evaluation of the transition in co-operation between Finland and Vietnam has found that the transition phase led to a reduction in development co-operation and growth in other types of co-operation. Trade and investment have become important instruments for achieving development goals and building a mutually beneficial partnership.

28.8.2024 | The number of applications increased slightly from the previous year while the processing times for permits shortened significantly. In the first part of 2024, 15,959 people applied for the first permit, compared with 15,493 persons during the same time last year.

Companies’ contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals is becoming a stronger element of Finland’s development cooperation. 19.1.2024 | Finland finances international forest research as part of development cooperation in the forestry sector. According to Pia Katila, Senior Scientist at the Natural Resources Institute Finland, multidisciplinary approach is a key to producing information to support forest policy in developing countries.

1.12.2023 | The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and Business Finland will co-host a side event to the Finnish start-up and technology event Slush to offer companies interested in the possibilities of development financing the chance to meet with venture capital investors and UN agencies. One of the development finance institutions present is the ADB Ventures fund of the Asian Development Bank. The Foreign Ministry will announce its investment of EUR 20 million in the fund.

21.11.2023 | The Talent Boost programme on work-based and education-based immigration will continue in a revised form during this Government term. The aim is to provide Finland with skills that meet its needs and to strengthen economic growth, employment and innovation activities. The ministerial working group on employment and entrepreneurship approved the programme on 21 November 2023.

24.8.2023 | Finland needs international workforce to respond to the labour market demand and the shortage of skilled employees. In order for international experts to come to work in Finland, our country must be able to attract and retain both employees and employers.
