9.5.2022 | Finland and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on energy on 9 May 2022. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) aims to develop technical and economic cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector and to promote the access of Finnish companies to the Emirati market.

9.9.2021 | The GTK Mintec pilot plant and laboratories in Outokumpu, operated by the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK), will get new office and laboratory facilities. This will facilitate the development of sustainable mining and the circular economy to respond to the challenges of climate change, the green transition and digitalisation.

8.5.2026 | Vid föredragningen fredagen den 8 maj förordnade republikens president Erik Lundberg till chef för Finlands ambassad i Addis Abeba och Pasi Hellman till chef för ambassaden i Tokyo från och med den 1 september 2026 samt Maria Ågren till ambulerande ambassadör för Turkmenistan från och med den 1 juni 2026.

9.5.2022 | Finland och Förenade Arabemiraten har den 9 maj 2022 ingått ett samförståndsavtal inom energisektorn (MOU). Syftet med avtalet är att utveckla ländernas samarbete inom teknik och ekonomi och främja finländska företags inträde på Förenade Arabemiratens marknad.

9.9.2021 | Geologiska forskningscentralen GTK:s provfabrik och laboratorier i Outokumpu (GTK Mintec) får nya kontors- och laboratorielokaler. Detta bidrar till att utveckla hållbar gruvverksamhet och cirkulär ekonomi som uppfyller de krav som klimatförändringar, grön omställning och digitalisering ställer.

6.11.2025 | Finland submitted the national exploration programme required by the European Critical Raw Materials Act to the European Commission on 12 September 2025. The programme has now been published on the website of the Geological Survey of Finland. The proposal for the programme was prepared by the Geological Survey of Finland and the programme was approved by Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto.

17.11.2025 | EU Commissioner for International Partnerships Jozef Síkela will visit Helsinki and Espoo on 17–18 November 2025. The main themes of the visit will be digitalisation and critical raw materials.

9.12.2025 | A delegation of Finnish Members of Parliament from the Development Policy Committee visited Zambia on 22–28 November to discuss with the country’s political leadership the development of cooperation between Finland and Zambia and to learn about topical development issues in the country.

3.11.2025 | On 28 October 2025, Finland and Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on a strategic partnership in the energy sector. The particular areas of cooperation are the promotion of energy and clean technologies, security of energy supply and decarbonisation of electricity and heat production.

31.10.2025 | Maa- ja metsätalousministeriö on nimittänyt uuden ohjausryhmän Sotka-hankkeelle vuosille 2025–2027. Hanke keskittyy taantuvien sorsalintujen elinympäristöjen kunnostamiseen ja luonnon monimuotoisuuden turvaamiseen. Tavoitteena on erityisesti pesimärauhan takaaminen arvokkailla lintuvesillä, kosteikoilla ja saaristossa.

6.2.2024 | Finland has received significant research funding of EUR 14 million from the EU to speed up the transition to a clean energy system. The REPower-CEST project will produce a comprehensive analysis of the means of phasing out fossil fuels and prepare a roadmap for implementing the transition in Finland.
