The conditions for being assigned a municipality of residence would remain unchanged. A person’s municipality of residence would still be the municipality in which they reside.

29.12.2021 | Around 16,200 new COVID-19 cases were reported between 20 and 26 December, while in the previous week the number of new cases in Finland was around 13,800. On 29 December, the total number of confirmed cases of the Omikron variant was 172. The burden on hospital care and intensive care remained stable over the Christmas holidays.

13.2.2020 | Municipal differentiation has become widely apparent in demographic trends, finances and financing, access to services and personnel, industrial structure and realisation of democracy. In many municipalities, these factors will also affect the municipality’s ability to carry out statutory duties. Since demographic change is likely to be an enduring phenomenon, differences between municipalities will continue to grow.

13.8.2020 | On Thursday 13 August, the Government adopted in its plenary session resolutions on recommendations for wearing face coverings and face masks and for remote work. The Government discussed the matter in its informal meeting held earlier today.

3.12.2020 | The coronavirus situation is rapidly worsening in Finland. Over the past two weeks, the number and incidence of cases has risen sharply in almost all regions. This development calls for an immediate and proactive response.

4.2.2021 | The number of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 continued to grow the week before last, and this trend continued between 25 and 31 January. The positive news is that the number of people tested in the whole of Finland was considerably higher at the end of January than in late December and early January. Contact tracing works well in municipalities although it takes a lot of hard work. It is essential to trace and break new chains of transmission quickly.

15.6.2020 | The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of the Interior request comments on the draft government proposal concerning the health and social services reform and the organisation of rescue services. The act would lay down provisions on, for example the organisation of rescue services, and the system of management and coordination as well as development and oversight of rescue services.

10.12.2020 | The number of new coronavirus infections is still at a high level and a number of regions are in the community transmission phase. It is possible that the epidemic will take a sudden turn for the worse across the country. However, there are indications that the sharp increase in new cases we saw in mid-November seems to have levelled off. We will have to wait a few weeks more before we can see the effects of the regional restrictions and recommendations.
