31.10.2025 | Finland has been working with the OECD to find the best ways to develop internal control, risk management and internal audit. This work is a response the ongoing evolution of the operating environment.

30.10.2024 | The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has audited more than half of its Member States. The IMO Member State Audit Scheme (IMSAS) ensures that Member States fulfil their international obligations and develop their maritime administration. Finland's audit takes place between 28 October and 4 November 2024 in Helsinki.

9.4.2026 | The Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy has decided in favour of centralising the Government’s financial administration functions under the Government Shared Services Centre for Finance and HR (Palkeet). With the decision, the central government’s operational financial administration tasks and the information systems that support them will be transferred to Palkeet next year.

15.7.2025 | The Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) met for its 134th session in London on 7–11 July 2025. Finland has been a member of the Council during the current term 2024–2025.

3.10.2022 | The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health has launched an international audit of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare as agreed in the Institute's performance agreement. Completed in early spring 2023, the audit will provide the Institute with a basis for developing its operations.

17.3.2023 | A panel of international experts convened by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health began its audit of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare in August 2022 and submitted its report to Permanent Secretary Veli-Mikko Niemi on 17 March 2023. The previous international audit of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare took place in 2013–2014.

16.3.2021 | Business Finland’s model for the internal control of coronavirus funding is comprehensive and well organised. Business Finland has succeeded well in communications and in providing clear and adequate instructions and advice to beneficiaries of aid. It has also continued to develop its internal guidelines and communications. The resources for processing the final reports were sufficient at the time of the audit, and there were no backlogs.

23.4.2025 | Prime Minister Petteri Orpo’s Government has agreed on the General Government Fiscal Plan for 2026–2029. The decisions focus on reinforcing the conditions for economic growth and enhancing the security of Finland and the Finnish people. At the same time, the Government will ensure that public finances are sustainable.
