14.2.2023 | The Ministry of the Interior has published an updated national risk assessment. The previous risk assessment was published in 2018, after which several changes have taken place in Finland’s operating environment. The national risk assessment anticipates sudden incidents targeted at Finland that have an impact on the vital functions of society and require the authorities to adopt exceptional measures or even request help from other countries. 

24.6.2025 | A data economy roundtable convened by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo brought together actors and experts in the field to discuss topical issues related to the data economy and data centre investments on Tuesday 24 June.

30.10.2024 | By summer 2023, only three years had passed since the publication of the sectoral low-carbon roadmaps in 2020. A provision in Petteri Orpo’s government program from June 2023 mandated the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and various sectors to revisit the roadmaps in light of the evolving operating environment. With this mandate, the update process began in autumn 2023. By autumn 2024, all 14 participating sectors had completed their updates.

14.11.2023 | On 10 November 2023, the Government submitted a follow-up Union communication to Parliament on the European Commission’s proposal for a TEN-T Regulation. The changes in the security environment after spring 2022 have given rise to a need to review positions on military mobility and the maps contained in the TEN-T Regulation.

26.6.2024 | At its meeting on Wednesday 26 June, the Ministerial Committee on European Union Affairs outlined Finland’s positions for the European Council in Brussels on 27–28 June and discussed Finland’s priorities regarding the EU’s forthcoming strategy for a preparedness union.

1.12.2023 | The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has started to update the low-carbon roadmaps together with the sectors. During the previous government term, 13 sectors drew up roadmaps describing their paths towards a low-carbon economy. Industry-specific approach helps to ensure that the roadmaps are ones that companies in the sector can identify with and genuinely commit to.

Finland's Choices was published on Thursday 28 May 2026. It offers interested parties a foundation of information that rests on an assessment by public officials.

19.12.2023 | Representatives of the EU Member States, Parliament and Commission have reached a provisional accord on a regulation concerning Union guidelines for developing the trans-European transport network (TEN-T). The regulation will define the TEN-T network, legislating on such aspects as quality requirements for highways and transport nodes. The accord was achieved in tripartite negotiations on 18 December 2023.

The surface area of the site concerned, the Kuikkasuo mire, is about 12 hectares, and it will be restored to a state that is as close to natural as possible.

30.6.2025 | Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio has made a decision on funding for a cooperation project between the Natural Resources Institute Finland, the Finnish Forest Centre, State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Research Institute of Forestry and Forest Melioration. The project’s total budget is EUR 1.037 million in 2025–2028.
