  2. 26.1.2026 | On 26 January 2026, Finland and 13 other European countries published a letter to the International Maritime Community on the safety and security risks caused by Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) interference. The signatories of the letter include the coastal states of the Baltic Sea and the North Sea: Finland, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden and the United Kingdom as well as Iceland.

In the fourth round of calls for proposals under the CEF Digital programme, five projects coordinated by Finnish operators received a total of around EUR 4.67 million in funding. In addition, funding was awarded to a Swedish submarine cable project that is partly placed in Finland.

  9. 22.11.2024 | On Friday 22 November, the President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed the recent damage to undersea telecommunications cables in the Baltic Sea. The National Bureau of Investigation is investigating the matter in Finland and engaging in international cooperation. It is still too early to assess the cause of the damage. The damage does not affect network traffic or Finland’s security of supply.

  11. 19.12.2024 | Finland’s Central Government and other operators are applying for a total of approximately EUR 73.36 million in financial support for 11 transport projects from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for Transport.
