9.3.2026 | Finland’s Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio and a delegation of ten Finnish companies will visit Mexico on 9–13 March. The Team Finland trade mission pursues to strengthen trade relations between Finland and Mexico and promote cooperation between the two countries.

25.4.2024 | On 25 April 2024, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Sari Essayah signed an updated Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Forestry between the National Forestry Commission of the United Mexican States and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland.

27.3.2026 | At the presidential session on Friday 27 March, the President of the Republic appointed the following persons to serve as heads of missions, starting on 1 September 2026: Pekka Kaihilahti, Finland’s Embassy in Budapest; Juha Niemi, Finland’s Consulate General in Hong Kong; and Joonas Heiskanen, Finland’s Consulate General in Shanghai.

3.11.2020 | Mexican and Finnish forest experts will strengthen their cooperation in forest sector. Forest cooperation between the two countries is based on a five-year Memorandum of Understanding. The parties to the MoU are the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland and National Forestry Commission of Mexico CONAFOR. Topical topics in cooperation include e.g. forest inventories, drafting of national forest programmes and role of forests in mitigation and adaptation to climate change.

16.11.2020 | Minister Mika Lintilä will conduct a virtual Team Finland visit to Mexico, starting 17 November 2020. The visit will start with Lintilä meeting Luz Maria de la Mora Sánchez, Mexico’s Undersecretary for Foreign Trade. The purpose of the visit is to strengthen commercial relations and innovation cooperation, especially within digitalisation, circular economy and sustainable solutions.

18.2.2026 | Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will attend an informal meeting of EU trade ministers in Nicosia, Cyprus, on 19–20 February. Topics on the meeting agenda include the 14th WTO Ministerial Conference and the EU’s trade relations with China. The ministers will also be briefed of the EU’s ongoing trade agreement negotiations with various trading partners.

21.11.2025 | The EU trade ministers will convene for a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels on 24 November to discuss the Union’s trade relations with the United States and China. The ministers will also take stock of the EU’s ongoing bilateral trade negotiations. The participation of Minister Tavio in the meeting has been cancelled. Finland will be represented by Finland’s EU Ambassador Jori Arvonen.

9.3.2026 | Utrikeshandels- och utvecklingsminister Ville Tavio besöker Mexiko den 9–13 mars tillsammans med representanter för 10 finländska företag. Syftet med Team Finlands exportfrämjande resa är att stärka handelsrelationerna och främja samarbetet mellan Finland och Mexiko.
