1.4.2026 | The For Forest Group+ of forested EU countries has again grown stronger as Germany joined the group at the meeting held in Sweden on 31 March–1 April. The topics discussed by the ministers included the EU Deforestation and LULUCF Regulations, the Birds Directive, and the development of criteria and indicators for sustainable forest management.

4.10.2021 | Prime Minister Sanna Marin will attend the Informal European Council on Tuesday 5 October, followed by the EU-Western Balkans summit on Wednesday 6 October. Both meetings will be held in Slovenia, which currently holds the EU Council Presidency.

5.5.2022 | Minister of Local Government Sirpa Paatero and Minister Mark Boris Andrijanič, who is the Slovenian government’s representative in matters relating to the digital transformation, signed a memorandum of understanding on increasing cooperation between Finland and Slovenia in relation to the digital transformation. The goal is to develop the digitalisation of public administration in both countries.

25.7.2025 | The Finnish OSCE Chairpersonship will organise a conference on 31 July 2025 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act. The conference will pay tribute to the legacy of the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe (CSCE) in Helsinki in 1975 and highlight the role of civil society in advancing OSCE’s principles and commitments. In the meeting, the GAC will continue its annual rule of law dialogue with country-specific discussions on the rule of law situation in Hungary, Portugal, Romania and Slovenia. The Council will also discuss the priorities for Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU. Finland’s Permanent Representative to the European Union, Jori Arvonen, will represent Finland at the meeting.

21.9.2021 | The Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU will organise informal meetings of energy and transport ministers in Kranj on 22–23 September 2021. At the meeting of energy ministers, Finland will be represented by Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä and Minister of Transport and Communications Timo Harakka at the meeting of transport ministers.
