  7. 25.11.2025 | Finland will publish its new national Action Plan for the Istanbul Convention on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The objective of the Istanbul Convention is to ensure that every girl and woman has a future without violence. Finland’s new action plan, covering the years 2026–2033, outlines several long-term objectives and lists altogether 37 practical measures.

  9. 27.11.2024 | The Nordic ministers responsible for gender equality and LGBTI issues met in Stockholm today on 27 November 2024.   10. 7.1.2026 | Finland’s term as Chairperson of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) ended on the last day of 2025. Last year marked 50 years since the CSCE meeting in Helsinki and the adoption of the Helsinki Final Act.   12. 22.11.2024 | November 25 is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, as designated by the United Nations (UN). Violence against women is also a significant problem in Finland, and solving this problem is everyone’s responsibility. The Government Palace and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs’ main building, Merikasarmi, will be illuminated in orange as part of the international campaign.

  13. 4.12.2025 | The Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs has awarded approximately EUR 311 million to Finnish civil society organisations (CSOs) for multiannual, programme-based development cooperation and humanitarian work in 2026–2029. Programme-based support, which is the main form of funding for CSOs for development cooperation work, will be awarded to 23 CSOs.

  14. 11.11.2025 | Finland will grant a total of EUR 13.5 million in humanitarian assistance at the end of the year. The total funding for humanitarian assistance in 2025 is over EUR 111 million. The funds granted at the end of year will go to humanitarian crises in Ukraine, Nigeria, Sudan, Gaza, Yemen and Afghanistan.
