10.2.2025 | The annual OSCE Conference on addressing anti-Semitism opened today, February 10, in Helsinki. The conference is part of the OSCE's work on combating intolerance. In addition to anti-Semitism, the conference touches upon discrimination faced by Muslims, Christians and representatives of other religions.

19.12.2025 | In a meeting that began on Thursday 18 December, the EU leaders reached an agreement on significant additional funding for Ukraine. In line with the agreement, the European Council will provide a EUR 90 billion loan to Ukraine for 2026 and 2027.

1.4.2025 | Finland holds the Chairpersonship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in 2025. Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen has appointed Prof. Dr Wolfgang Palaver as Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office on Combating Discrimination.

6.11.2024 | Minister of Finance Riikka Purra gave the Government’s address to a memorial ceremony for Jews handed over to Nazi Germany by Finland. The memorial was held in Helsinki on 6 November.

24.7.2023 | Prime Minister Petteri Orpo held discussions with the Government parties last week. The topics included the Government’s statement on promoting equality and non-discrimination in Finnish society to be submitted to Parliament in September.

16.4.2020 | Different parts of Finland are reporting engagement in activities by violent extremist movements. Violent non-parliamentary far right movements are active in the areas of all police departments. In some areas, there are also reports of activities of violent non-parliamentary far left groups, mainly anarchists and anti-fascists. These conclusions are presented in the new situation overview of violent extremism.

17.11.2020 | In their video meeting on Tuesday 17 November, the Ministers for European Affairs prepared for the December European council and continued the Council's annual rule of law dialogue. Other items on the agenda included the opening of EU accession negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia, measures to combat antisemitism and the state of play regarding the next multiannual financial framework and the recovery package.

16.12.2019 | Minister of European Affairs and Ownership Steering Tytti Tuppurainen and EU ambassadors in EU and candidate countries met today in Helsinki to discuss how to combat hate speech, hate crime and antisemitism. The discussions clearly highlighted how these phenomena are problems across Europe. European cooperation and the sharing of good practices are of paramount importance in the fight against these phenomena.
