  13. 3.3.2026 | Finland has joined the Global Coalition on Telecommunications (GCOT) in connection with the Barcelona Mobile World Congress. The congress also saw the release of the GCOT’s principles for security and resilience in 6G, which Finland supports.

  15. 13.6.2024 | The President of the Republic approved amendments to the Act on Electronic Communications Services on 13 June 2024. The amendments concern two acts but in practice affect the validity of certain provisions of the Act on Electronic Communications Services. The amendments will enter into force before the validity period of the current provisions expires at the end of June and in the beginning of July 2024.

  16. 14.11.2025 | The President of the Republic has granted the annual internationalisation awards to three companies and one community. Orion Corporation won the 2025 Growth Company Award. The Newcomer Company Award went to Sensofusion, and Sandvik Mining and Construction was recognised as the Long-term International Investor. The year’s Community Award was granted to the Finnish Startup Community.

The proposal would change certain temporary provisions to ones that are in force until further notice and would update the supervision tasks of the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom.

  18. 14.4.2026 | The Ministry of the Interior has sent out for comments a draft government proposal to update civilian intelligence legislation in response to the changed security environment.  The proposal would introduce new powers, including measures to prepare for state-sponsored threats, and clarifying amendments arising from practical needs identified in intelligence activities. Changes are also proposed to the non-disclosure periods for documents. The deadline for submitting comments is in late May.
